FAQ

1. How do I apply?
The waiting lists are currently closed. We will announce on the website when the waiting lists are reopened.

2. How do I qualify?
The resident-selection process will include income and household member verification, a prior landlord interview (if warranted), a credit check, and a criminal background check.  Below are current income limits.

Income Limits

Household Size Maximum Allowable Income

A percentage of Willow Creek’s apartment homes are subject to maximum allowable incomes, with three available income tiers (25, 50 & 60% of AMI, as determined by HUD). Please note that the following income limits are subject to change, and that availability at each tier is limited.  Maximum income is determined by household size.   Minimum incomes, based on monthly rents, will also apply.

Market rate units will also be available.

4. Are there rental subsidies, such as Section 8, available?

Though Willow Creek welcomes households with rental subsidies (i.e. RAP, Housing Choice Vouchers, etc.), subsidies will neither be required nor offered.

5. If I have a family of three, do I qualify for a three bedroom apartment?
Willow Creek works to accommodate all households with an appropriately-sized apartment based on household composition.

6. Are rent-to-own units available?

No, there will not be “rent-to-own” units.  Three-bedroom condominium units are planned for a later phase, and will be available for purchase.  The condominiums will be built on the northeast portion of the site, and offered for sale after the first 100 or so rental units have been successfully occupied.

7. If I previously lived at Bowles Park, will my new apartment be in the same location?

Willow Creek aims to accommodate preferences but, given that the redevelopment is being done in phases, cannot offer apartments in all areas of the site at the same time or guarantee a particular location.

8. Are gas grills permitted at Willow Creek?
No.  Unfortunately, Connecticut law prohibits gas and charcoal grills on patios and balconies.

9. Can I install a satellite dish at my apartment?

Satellite dishes are not allowed to be installed at Willow Creek.
